What I love about Jim's work is his use of color, dimension and perspective. At quick glace his works look photos, but as you spend time investigating, you can see each purposeful brush stroke. I am in awe!
A Note from Jim:
I am a California graphic artist living in Santa Cruz, and am part of the decorative painting team at Stancil Studios based in San Francisco. I hold a BFA (1988) from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.
I make images of where I live - 22 years in San Francisco and Santa Cruz for the last 9. Both are popular California travel destinations. Santa Cruz especially has a pride of place that I want my prints and paintings to reflect.
While my pieces act as visual records of my home places, I also hope they spark good memories for those who have visited.
I first learned to screen print in the early 1980's and have explored many types of serigraphy over the last 40 years. My favorite is the reduction screen print. Not familiar with this method of screen printing? Allow me to introduce you: Printing Divine
