Richard picked out the ones he liked best and applied them to these all the vases in this collection.  

The interior glaze color is the first dip, then after it thoroughly dried, he dipped it in another color externally only.

All vases have similar carving detail with a disruptive look to the carving stroke at the bottom portion of the vase.

Richards Artist Statement:

I am a San Francisco-based maker of one-of-a-kind wheel thrown clay vessels.  My work is inspired by the infinite patterns and textures in nature.  Everything from a water ripple to the surface of a manzanita tree informs my design process and shows through in the finished work. My process starts with one shape which, in turn, evolves into several complementary shapes.  Each grouping is an exploration of shape, texture, and pattern and how they relate to one another.
